Bishkek, April 13 /Xinhua/ — The Chinese market today is perceived not just as a large sales platform, but also as one of the most reliable and promising growth centers for international business, vividly confirmed by the 6th China International Consumer Products Expo /CICPE/. This was stated recently in an interview with Xinhua by an economist from Kyrgyzstan, Iskender Sharsheev.
The 6th CICPE, which is held from April 13 to 18 in Hainan Province in southern China, is the first major exhibition in China after the country’s entry into the 15th Five-Year Plan period /2026-2030/, as well as the first time such an exhibition has been held since the independent customs operation regime was launched across the entire Hainan Free Trade Port territory in December of last year, which, in the opinion of I. Sharsheev, is of great significance for the global economy.
“In conditions of increasing geopolitical tension, trade restrictions, and instability of global supply chains, China’s consumer market continues to demonstrate stability and the ability to quickly adapt to external challenges,” he indicated, adding that China consistently supports the domestic market through stimulating consumption, renewing products, and measures aimed at strengthening the purchasing power of the population.
“That is precisely why the Chinese market today is perceived not simply as a large sales platform, but as one of the most reliable and promising growth centers for international business. A vivid confirmation of this is the 6th CICPE, which gathers numerous brands from different countries around the world and demonstrates a high level of trust by global companies in the long-term potential of the Chinese economy,” the expert noted.
According to I. Sharsheshev, the launch of the independent customs operations regime throughout the territory of the Hainan Free Trade Port essentially creates a new format of cooperation with the Chinese market for international partners, where tariff and bureaucratic barriers are reduced, import and export procedures are simplified, logistics are accelerated, and opportunities for cross-border trade are expanded.
“Together with the updated CICPE platform, this transforms Hainan not only into an exhibition venue but into a real mechanism for testing new trade regimes, attracting investment, and building modern supply chains. For businesses, this means more convenient, faster, and predictable access to the Chinese market, and for foreign companies — the opportunity to operate in an environment with more flexible and favorable conditions,” emphasized the Kyrgyz economist.
In recent years, the Kyrgyz Republic has unwaveringly pursued a course towards expanding high-level openness to the outside world. In my opinion, I. Sharsheev believes that, looking at the long-term perspective, China’s openness creates “not situational, but strategic opportunities” for Kyrgyzstan.
“China shows that it is betting on expanding access for foreign investors, developing digital trade, protecting business rights, and creating a more open economic environment. For Kyrgyzstan, this means a chance not only to increase exports but also to integrate into new production, logistics, and consumer chains formed around the growing Chinese market,” emphasized the interlocutor of Xin Hua.He indicated that the most promising directions here could be the supply of environmentally clean products, the development of joint production in the textile and light industries, the promotion of green and intellectual goods, the development of tourism and related consumer services.
“In this sense, using China’s capabilities for Kyrgyzstan can be seen as a practical step towards strengthening economic cooperation, expanding sales markets, and creating a more sustainable growth model under conditions of global uncertainty,” the expert concluded. –0–
