Islamabad, April 13 /Xinhua/ — Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Monday that the ceasefire regime between the USA and Iran remains in effect, adding that the Pakistani side will continue to make efforts to facilitate dialogue and ensure lasting peace in the region.

“As of today, the ceasefire continues to be violated. Efforts are being made to resolve unresolved issues,” Sh. Sharif stated in his address to the federal cabinet of ministers, which was broadcast on television.

The head of the Pakistani government called the recent American-Iranian talks in Islamabad a “historic moment” and emphasized that they provide a chance to turn the “looming clouds of war into lasting peace.”

As noted by Sh. Sharif, the delegations of Iran and the USA held direct negotiations in an in-person format for 21 hours, and this, according to him, became a significant step forward in diplomatic interaction. –0–
