The results of the competition, which united the strongest student scientific associations of Russia and neighboring countries, have been summed up. The Student Scientific Society of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade of SPbPU confirmed its status as one of the leading centers of youth science, having won first place in the international competition of SNO of economic universities in 2025.

According to the expert evaluation results, the activity of the SNO IPMET was recognized as the best in the nomination “SNO of the faculty (institute)”. The Student Scientific Society was represented by a second-year master’s student of the Higher School of Service and Trade, Chairperson of the SNO IPMET Margarita Yanchevskaya, deputy chairpersons, graduate students Grigoriy Kulkayev, Konstantin Sharlay, second-year master’s student of the Higher School of Business Engineering Vadim Shabunin, as well as curator, associate professor of the Higher Engineering and Economic School Viktoriya Brazovskaya.

The competition is a key platform for exchanging experience and identifying the most effective models for organizing youth science in the CIS with an economic focus. Its strategic goals are inextricably linked to the global tasks of higher education: intensifying students’ scientific research activities, developing innovative entrepreneurial skills, and forming a unified scientific and educational space at the international level.

The SNO development program applied to the competitive application, encompassing both scientific-popular events as well as the direct scientific activities of its participants. Additionally, experts provided a detailed statistical report reflecting the key quantitative and qualitative indicators of the association’s work, including the dynamics of the SNO’s number and the total volume of scientific publications, including articles in journals from the VAK list and publications indexed in the RSCI core.

The number of scientific events organized by the society, the proportion of SNO members involved in fundamental and applied research, the level of media coverage of activities, as well as experience in participation and victories in regional, federal, and industry competitions assessing the activities of student scientific societies were also taken into account.

The high jury rating confirms the systematic approach of SNO IPMEIT to involving learners in the research agenda. It is worth noting that the activity is aimed not only at popularizing science but also at creating applied support mechanisms for student initiatives — from the first steps in writing a scientific article to the implementation of complex interdisciplinary projects.

For us, participating in the competition became an opportunity to systematize everything we have achieved. The foundation of the application was based not only on high statistical indicators of our activity but also on a relevant development program that the entire team worked on. When you are passionate about your work and see the live interest of students, the preparation of even such serious audit documents happens effortlessly, plans and ideas emerge on their own when you see the result and receive a burst of energy from interacting with the students.,” — emphasized the Chairwoman of the CNO IPME Margarita Yanchevskaya.

International recognition of the achievements of the UNO IPMEIT opens new horizons for further academic cooperation, promoting the scaling of best practices and the training of personnel capable of addressing the current challenges of modern science.

Victory of SNO IPMET in a competition of such level is an indicator of high quality of popularization of scientific activity in our institute. This is the result of coordinated work of the team of students and their mentors, aimed at forming engagement in scientific activity and developing the intellectual and scientific-research potential of students.,” — noted the director of the IPMEIT Vladimir Shchepinin.
