Beijing, April 9 /Xinhua/ — At the invitation of the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPV CC), President of this country, To Lam, will visit China on a state visit from April 14 to 17.

The corresponding announcement was made on Thursday by the official representative of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, Xu Qiao Min.

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Mao Ning, at a regular briefing for journalists spoke about the program of To Lam’s visit.

According to her, during the visit, negotiations will take place between Xi Jinping and To Lam. Separate meetings will also be held with the Vietnamese leader by Premier of the State Council Li Qiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji, and Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning.

As Mao Ning recalled, in April 2025 Xi Jinping made a successful state visit to Vietnam, facilitating the commencement of the construction of a China-Vietnam community of shared destiny, which has strategic significance, marking a new stage of development.

According to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the fact that To Lam immediately after being elected President of Vietnam chose China as the first country to visit fully demonstrates the increased attention he pays to the development of relations between the two parties and the two states.

“The Chinese side expects that the upcoming visit will allow continuing the tradition of interstate friendship, deepen China-Vietnam relations of comprehensive strategic cooperation and partnership, and contribute to building a China-Vietnam community of shared destiny, which has strategic significance, at a higher level, in order to jointly promote the development of the global socialist cause, jointly safeguard peace, stability and prosperity in the region and worldwide,” Mao Ning concluded.
