Washington, April 8 /Xinhua/ — NATO was not there when we needed it, and it will not be there if we need it again. This was stated on Wednesday by US President Donald Trump on the social network Truth Social after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House.
“Remember Greenland — this is a large, flat, manageable piece of ice,” noted D. Trump.
Since the beginning of the war in Iran, D. Trump demanded that NATO allies join the USA in opening the Strait of Hormuz, but he received a refusal. European countries such as Spain and Italy even refused the American military use of their airspace, which infuriated D. Trump.
Over the past few weeks, D. Trump has repeatedly criticized NATO for its inability to provide assistance to the United States in the war and threatened to withdraw from the North Atlantic Treaty.
