Tianjin, April 9 /Xinhua/ — On the days at Tianjin Foreign Languages University /city of Tianjin, North China/, there was a joint performance by Chinese and Russian youth.
“It’s my first time abroad,” 19-year-old Russian Anzhela said with excitement in her voice. “What I remember most is how we learned songs in each other’s languages together, it was incredibly fun.”
Angela is a participant of the delegation from the All-Russian children’s center “Orlyonok.” “Orlyonok” is one of the four largest children’s centers in Russia, created through the joint efforts of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. The center has established contacts with many Chinese organizations, annually sending groups of children and educators to China under exchange programs and receiving Chinese delegations, thereby planting the seeds of Chinese-Russian friendship in children’s hearts.
As part of the visit of the Russian youth delegation to China, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, together with the All-Russian Children’s Center “Orlyonok,” organized the China-Russia Festival of Culture and Arts. 32 participants of the Russian delegation from “Orlyonok” performed on the same stage with Chinese students. Combining artistic self-expression with language communication, the festival clearly demonstrated the results of exchanges between teenagers from the two countries.
During their stay in Tianjin, the “Orlenok” delegation also attended Chinese language classes, familiarized themselves with traditional Chinese culture, and then traveled to Beijing to participate in cultural and educational events in Tian’anmen Park / Temple of Heaven / and the Gugong Museum / Forbidden City/.
“Teenagers are not only the future of their countries but also the future of China-Russia relations,” noted Li Yinyin, rector of the Tianjin Foreign Studies University. “We hope that language will become a starting point for bringing people’s hearts closer, deepen mutual communication among young people, and help nurture as many young ambassadors as possible, promoting mutual enrichment of civilizations.” -0-
