Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin took part in the meeting of the leadership of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World” with ambassadors of the states – members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The event was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, chairman of the RUSTAM group Minnikhanov. Participants discussed the upcoming annual international economic forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum.”
“In accordance with the priorities of Russia’s foreign policy, as outlined by the President, we continue to strengthen partnership with Muslim countries, based on mutual respect and common interests. These principles are the foundation for building a just and stable world order. Strengthening mutual understanding and establishing direct contacts between our countries is one of the tasks of the Strategic Vision Group ‘Russia – Islamic World.’ This year, the group will celebrate its 20th anniversary at the Kazan Forum.”I thank all members of the group, Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Development, the Republic of Tatarstan for active work and unwavering support of all forum events. He added that by the decision of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, KazanForum will be held at the federal level for the fourth time this year. A rich business program has been formed, within the framework of which issues related to various industries will be worked out, including the interaction of Russia with Islamic countries in the field of construction. In addition, special attention is required for the development of key transport arteries “North – South” and “West – East” to ensure food security, stability of supplies, and creation of alternative logistic routes.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that interethnic and interfaith harmony have been and remain the most important elements of the centuries-old Russian statehood.
“Along with other traditional religions, Islam represents an integral part of the spiritual-historical and cultural heritage of our country. Among the unconditional foreign policy priorities of Russia is the strengthening of mutually beneficial ties with the states of the friendly Islamic civilization, as well as the promotion of dialogue with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. An important role in the development of Russia’s partnership with the OIC belongs to the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World,” ” Sergey Lavrov said.
According to the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, deputy chairman of the organizing committee of the international economic forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”, Rustam Minnikhanov, in a month the capital of the republic will once again become the center of international dialogue when the 17th KazanForum takes place.
“Last year, about 8,500 people from 96 countries around the world and 82 regions of Russia took part in its business program. Among them were the heads of more than 35 diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow. I assure you that this year the business program of our forum will be no less intense. Special significance will be given to solemn events in honor of the year “Kazan – the cultural capital of the Islamic world”, the Congress of Ministers of Culture of the OIC countries, the General Assembly of ISESCO, the Congress of representatives of national banks of the OIC member countries, organized in partnership with the Bank of Russia.”During KazanForum, the annual meeting of our Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World” will take place, whose activities are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. The strategic vision group “Russia – Islamic World” was established in 2006, after Russia obtained the status of an observer in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The group has become an important platform for dialogue between Russia and the Islamic world, where current issues of international relations, the situation in the Middle East and Near East, as well as the complex of relations between Russia and the states of the Islamic East, are discussed.
