Nanjing, April 8 /Xinhua/ — On Tuesday, in the city of Nanjing, the administrative center of Jiangsu Province /East China/, an event took place for the exchange in the fields of education and culture between the city of Nanjing and the Russian urban district Pushkinsky on the occasion of the Cross Years of Education of China and Russia in 2026-2027.
At the event titled “Unity in the spirit of friendship, education of personality through the means of the beautiful,” the competent education departments of two cities signed a memorandum on strategic cooperation, according to which six primary and secondary schools of the city of Nanjing established sister school relationships with educational institutions of the Pushkin city district.
A delegation from the Pushkinsky city district, consisting of 58 representatives of government bodies, as well as teachers and students, arrived in Nanjing to promote practical cooperation between the PRC and the Russian Federation in the fields of education, culture, and youth exchanges. Both sides plan to carry out long-term cooperation in jointly developing curricula, training educators, and organizing reciprocal visits of students.
Deputy Head of the Pushkinsky City District Olga Vladimirovna Zhdanova announced readiness to contribute to expanding exchanges between schoolchildren of the two cities in the fields of history, culture, arts, and others through language learning, in order to strengthen mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
The deputy mayor of Nanjing, Sun Baizun, noted that both the Pushkin city district and Nanjing are rich in educational and cultural resources.He expressed hope that both sides would take advantage of the occasion of the Anniversary of the Founding of China and Russia to organize a larger number of diverse educational exchange activities, in order to continuously deepen friendship and mutual trust, as well as to strengthen cooperation in the field of exchanging information on educational policy, building sister schools, organizing mutual visits and exchanges between teachers and students, language training, cultural and sports exchanges, and joint use of educational resources.
At the event, the official launch of the Cziansu-Moscow Regional Alliance of Friendly Schools “Aesthetic Education” also took place within the framework of the Chinese-Russian project for training future personnel, aimed at strengthening spiritual ties and cultural mutual learning between the youth of China and Russia through art education.
According to Yan Cxyong, the secretary-general of the Chinese Association for International Exchange in the Field of Education, “Unity in spirit of friendship, nurturing personality through the means of the beautiful” is not only the theme of today’s event, but also the goal towards which everyone strives together.
He assured that the association will continue to support the comprehensive implementation of the China-Russia project for training future personnel in Nanjing, as well as support a larger number of educational institutions coming closer to each other through the organization of various events, including cultural exchanges, educational trips, and mutual visits.
