The Lu Ban Workshop at the Tajik Technical University named after academician M. Osimi has become one of the most significant educational platforms in the country, where students have the opportunity to study modern technologies and methods of professional training based on the Chinese model. The project is implemented as part of cooperation with the Tianjin University of Urban Construction Management and is aimed at training qualified specialists for the development of infrastructure, energy, construction, digital economy, and the IT sector of Tajikistan.

The workshop is named after the legendary Chinese engineer and inventor Lu Ban, who is revered in China as the patron of builders and craftsmen. His name symbolizes engineering thought, practical knowledge, and the continuity of professional traditions. The workshop space is equipped with modern means for practical training in the fields of geodesy, intellectual cartography, and “green” energy, and also provides students with the opportunity to master technologies of automation, digital modeling, and design.Up to fifty students can simultaneously study here, and anyone interested has the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the equipment, methodologies, and internship programs in China.

We had a conversation with the head of the laboratory Lu Banya Ibragimov Aliddin Zarifovich, who gave a detailed account of the workshop’s work results and its development prospects. According to him, over three years of the laboratory’s operation, more than thirty students from TTU have undergone training at the Tianjin University of Urban Construction Management. Each year, about ten students have the opportunity to intern in China, master advanced technologies, and gain practical experience working in an international environment.”We have built a sustainable personnel training system that combines theoretical training with practical mastery of modern equipment and technologies. Students return with new professional thinking and confidence in their skills,” emphasized Aliddin Ibragimov.

During the workshop, the students showed impressive results. Many became winners of professional mastery competitions in China and at international competitions. Practical training and internships abroad allow students not only to master modern methodologies, but also to participate in real projects together with Chinese specialists. According to the head of the laboratory, this forms in students a deep understanding of the significance of the profession for the socio-economic development of the country and opens new horizons for professional growth.

Lu Bath Workshop functions as an open educational space. Any student of TTU can visit the laboratory, familiarize themselves with the equipment and training programs, which stimulates interest in practical disciplines and increases motivation. Geodesy students and future energy specialists get a unique opportunity to work with high-precision measuring instruments, digital modeling, and modern automation systems, which opens their path to a successful career in construction, energy, the transport industry, and IT.

The memorandum on the creation of the Lu Banya workshop in Tajikistan was signed on January 4, 2022, between TTU and the Tianjin University of Urban Construction Management. The total project cost amounted to 1.2 million dollars, financing was provided by the Chinese government, and the equipment and educational-methodical materials were supplied from Tianjin.

During this time, the workshop became an integral part of the educational process of TTU and an example of successful international cooperation. Graduates of the workshop successfully participate in professional competitions, acquire in-demand skills, and apply them in national and regional projects.

According to Aliddin Ibragimov, the potential of the workshop continues to expand. In the coming years, the implementation of new educational directions is planned, deepening scientific and practical interaction with Chinese partners, and increasing the number of students undergoing training and internships abroad. The development of programs in the “green” and digital economy is also planned so that the training of specialists corresponds to modern international standards. “The main thing is the motivation of young people and confidence in the chosen profession.”The Lu Bath Workshop is forming a new generation of specialists ready to work with modern technologies and contribute to the development of the country,” summarized the head of the laboratory.

The Lu Bath Workshop in Dushanbe today is a vivid example of how international educational cooperation turns knowledge into a real resource for the development of the country and regions. It opens up new opportunities for young specialists, forms practical skills that are in demand in the labor market, and creates a foundation for sustainable professional growth.
