Moscow, April 3 /Xinhua/ — President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a telephone conversation, discussed the situation in the Persian Gulf region and around Ukraine, the Kremlin press service reported on Friday.
“An in-depth exchange of views was held in connection with the ongoing escalation of the military-political confrontation in the Persian Gulf zone. It was noted that intensive hostilities lead to serious negative consequences not only on a regional but also on a global scale, including in the energy, trade, and logistics sectors. The leaders noted the coincidence of positions regarding the inevitability of a prompt ceasefire and the development of compromise peace agreements that would take into account the legitimate interests of all states in the region,” the statement says.
The statement notes that during discussions about the situation around Ukraine, V. Putin expressed his gratitude to his Turkish counterpart “for the unwavering readiness to assist in conducting the appropriate negotiation process.” The parties emphasized the importance of coordinating security measures in the Black Sea against the backdrop of ongoing attempts by Kyiv to damage the infrastructure of the “Blue” and “Turkish” flows.
According to the report, during the telephone conversation between the leaders of the two states, further steps were also considered to expand Russian-Turkish political and trade-economic relations, in particular, the implementation of joint strategic projects in the energy sector.
