The key task of the national project “Infrastructure for Life” is to improve the quality of life of Russians. One of the priority areas of work for road workers is to bring roads to the standards of medical institutions.
“Within the framework of the systematic work on the development of the trauma care network in the country, medical institutions are being constructed and modernized. Under the national project ‘Infrastructure for Life,’ roadworks are planned this year on 524 sections of the regional and local road network, which serve as leading or connecting routes to hospitals, polyclinics, and primary healthcare centers. The total length will exceed 2.6 thousand km. This will enable timely medical assistance to Russians and improve the efficiency of the trauma care system,” announced Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
The sites leading feldsher-obstetric points, polyclinics, hospitals, medical centers, etc., were given the closest attention from the very beginning of the national project.
“Last year, under the national project ‘Infrastructure for Life,’ we brought 530 road sections leading to medical institutions into regulatory condition. Their total length was 2.4 thousand km. Repair and construction-installation works were carried out both on the street-road networks of large cities and on regional and inter-municipal roads. Thanks to early contracting, many repairs were completed ahead of schedule. This is an important direction of our activity, allowing a significant improvement in the quality of life of Russians,” noted Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin.
As a rule, at the facility, which is a leading socially significant institution, a whole complex of work is carried out.
“In order for routes to medical institutions to become truly comfortable for all road users, an integrated approach is necessary. Where possible, project sponsors strive to provide arrangements or increase the number of parking spaces. Equally important is the availability of sidewalks and pedestrian paths, as well as compliance with accessibility requirements. The road to the clinic should be equally convenient both for a woman with a stroller and for a person with limited health capabilities,” emphasized the Deputy Head of the Federal Road Agency, Kairat Tursunbekov.
In Blagoveshchensk, Amur Region, a section of Vasilenko Street from Ignatyevskoye Highway to Voronkova Street will be repaired. The length of the site is 0.9 km. Traffic here is quite intense: the street crosses the densely populated Blagoveshchensk microdistrict, where the Amur Regional Clinical Hospital is located — one of the largest specialized medical institutions in the Far East. The contractor plans to start road work in mid-May and complete it by the end of November 2026.
In the new road season in the Altai Republic, repairs are planned for 14 km of regional roads leading to medical institutions in rural areas. Among them is a 6-kilometer section of the Biysk – Turochak – Verh-Biysk route. It runs through the territory of the village of Turochak and provides transport accessibility to the district hospital. This is the most important medical institution for more than 12 thousand people living in the Turochak district. During the repair, the road workers will replace the asphalt concrete pavement and strengthen the shoulders. For the safety of patients and pedestrians, sidewalks, pedestrian paths, and traffic lights will be installed.
In Vladimir Oblast this year, repairs are planned for several road sections leading to feldsher-obstetric stations in small settlements. For example, the renovation of a 4 km stretch of the “Volga” highway — Davydovo in the Kameshkovsky municipal district will make access to the FAP in the village of Davydovo more comfortable; it serves dozens of settlements. The access road to the Glebovsky FAP, which serves residents of five settlements in the Kovrovsky district, will be made more accessible by repairing a 14-kilometer section of the Kovrov — Krasnaya Griva — Sel’tso — Mstera — Mstera station — “Volga” highway. In the Melenkovsky municipal district, repair of a 5.5 km section of the Kasimov – Murom – Nizhny Novgorod route is planned. This road leads to the Ilykinsky FAP. Residents of the village of Ivanovo and the village of Yesino in the Kovrovsky district will soon be able to reach the Ivanovo-Yesinskaya district polyclinic much more conveniently—thanks to the repair of the Pavlovskoe – Yesino – Krasny Mayak – Andreevo – Tyurmerovka section of the road.
In Kislovodsk, Stavropol Krai, a 0.8 km section of Pervomaysky Prospekt is being repaired. Here is one of the most in-demand urban medical institutions – Polyclinic No. 1. In 2024, it celebrated its 60th anniversary since its opening. Currently, 230 specialists work here.
At the work site, the road workers have already dismantled the old curbs and installed new ones, as well as started dismantling the sidewalk paving. During the repair, a new asphalt concrete pavement will be arranged here, bus shelters will be updated, and lighting will be replaced. Since the polyclinic is located in the historic part of the city, comfortable pedestrian paths will be arranged for the convenience and safety of all road users.
