Beijing, April 3 /Xin Hua/ — In the first quarter of 2026, 632 thousand entries and exits of people were inspected and allowed at the Erenhot Port of Entry of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region /Northern China/, which is 1.28 percent more in annual terms. The transport flow through this port of entry increased by 10.69 percent to 176 thousand units of vehicles. Both indicators became record high for the analogous period in the history of this border crossing’s operation, the statement published on Friday on the official website of the Erenhot city mayor’s office says.
Being the largest land border checkpoint on the border of China and Mongolia, Erenhot has already turned into an international integrated transport hub, combining automobile, railway, and air transportation. Thanks to its unique geographical advantages, convenient transportation conditions, and comfortable customs clearance environment, it has become the “golden channel” for the development of China-Mongolia trade and economic relations.
According to statistics, over the past two years, residents from more than 80 countries and regions have entered and exited China through the Erlianhot Border Crossing Point (BCP). Border trade, cross-border tourism, and human exchanges between China and Mongolia continue to show a growth trend. The increase in passenger flow and transport flow through the Erlianhot BCP in the first quarter of the current year confirms the strengthening of China-Mongolia ties in tourism, trade, culture, and other spheres.
Against the backdrop of the continuous growth in the flow of arriving and departing passengers, the Eren-Khoto border checkpoint is constantly improving the organizational model of border control, taking measures such as opening special lanes for tourists, businessmen, and other passenger groups. -0-
