Beijing, April 2 /Xin Hua/ — The problem with the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is one of the side effects of the current military conflict. This was stated on Thursday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Wan Yi, noting that the situation in the strait will remain unstable until the hostilities end.

Van I, who is also a member of the CPC Central Committee Politburo, made this statement during a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

The head of the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry informed Van I about the situation in the Middle East, indicating that military actions against Iran have a serious impact on the countries of the region and the whole world as a whole.

As Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud stated, Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to China’s important role in international affairs and highly values strategic cooperation with the Chinese side at a high level. He expressed the kingdom’s readiness to further strengthen contacts and coordination with China on platforms such as the UN in order to jointly facilitate de-escalation and conflict resolution.

Van I, in turn, noted that the prolonged war against Iran, which has been ongoing for more than a month, has led to enormous human casualties and material losses, undermined the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf countries, and in this regard, China expresses its concern.

The head of the MID drew attention to the fact that at the summit, China and Pakistan jointly put forward a five-point initiative for the restoration of peace and stability in the Persian Gulf region and the Middle East, which calls for the protection of the sovereignty and security of the Persian Gulf states, the cessation of attacks on the civilian population and civilian objects, and the provision of safe navigation of sea routes.

Van I emphasized that the primary task at the moment is to focus efforts on the swift cessation of hostilities. According to him, the actions of the UN Security Council must now be aimed at preventing the escalation of the confrontation and should not legitimize any unauthorized military operations; otherwise, this will lead to an endless chain of adverse consequences, primarily affecting small and medium-sized states.

How the Chinese diplomat added that China highly values Saudi Arabia’s commitment to the advancement of peace and the cessation of war, counting on joining efforts with it for the swiftest restoration of peace in the region. –0–
