The First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia, Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Russian-Indian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural Cooperation Denis Manturov visited the Republic of India on a working visit, where he was received by the Prime Minister of the Republic Narendra Modi, held bilateral meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Co-Chairman of the Russian-Indian IPC Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security Ajit Doval, as well as with the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The expansion of mutually beneficial trade, investment, and cooperative ties has become one of the key topics on the negotiation agenda. Specific steps were discussed to create favorable conditions for increasing turnover under current conditions.
Denis Manturov noted that according to the results of last year, Russia increased supplies of in-demand types of mineral fertilizers to the republic by 40% and is ready to continue meeting India’s needs for this product. In addition, a joint project for the production of urea is being developed.
Special attention is given to cooperation in the oil and gas sector. Denis Manturov confirmed that Russian companies have the capacity for the consistent increase of oil and liquefied natural gas supplies to the Indian market.
Russia and India continue to strengthen their partnership in the field of atomic energy, and in accordance with agreed schedules, a project for the construction of power units for the Kudankulam NPP is being implemented. As emphasized by Denis Manturov, Russia sees significant prospects for expanding cooperation with India in this direction.
There was also a substantive dialogue on such areas of cooperation as industrial cooperation, space, and education.
