Almaty, April 2 /Xin Hua/ — In Kazakhstan, 17 deposits have been discovered over the past two years. This was reported on Thursday by the Kazinform news agency, citing the Vice Minister of Industry and Construction of Iran, Sharrana.
Speaking at the international geological forum Geoscience & Exploration Central Asia in Astana, the vice minister stated that since 2018, Kazakhstan has been actively conducting reforms in the field of geology and subsoil use, the first results of which have allowed increasing investments in geological exploration by 2.5 times — up to 1 billion US dollars for 2019-2024.
In Kazakhstan, there are about 3 thousand subsoil use entities in the geological exploration field, where exploration work has not been conducted before.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Construction, as of today, Kazakhstan’s mineral resource base includes about 10 thousand deposits. The total volume of reserves of the main types of minerals is 2.3 thousand tons of gold, 4.3 billion tons of oil, 3.8 trillion cubic meters of gas, 33.5 billion tons of coal, and 26.7 billion tons of iron.
