The VI All-Russian Interuniversity Forum “The Art of Management” at the State University of Management has concluded. This year it became noticeably larger in scale: the program extended to 10 days, and the format itself became more practical and enriched.
Opening the forum, the Vice-Rector of GSU, Dmitry Yuryevich Bryukanov, noted: “Our forum has been held six times already, and with each year it becomes larger in scale, deeper, and more interesting. Together with you, we are moving towards project-based learning.”
The forum brought together students, teachers, heads of educational programs, and business representatives. The main focus was on project work. Participants not only discussed ideas but also solved real tasks and defended their solutions in front of experts.
A significant part of the program was a project-intensive course. Teachers and specialists worked at round tables and project sessions, discussing how to build modern project-based learning and make it part of the educational environment. At the same time, they underwent professional development and received certificates of the established form upon completion.
Partners played a separate role. The company IPI-LAB helped to strengthen the practical part of the forum. Training on presentations and preparation for battles yielded results: finalists went for the defense confidently and well-prepared.
The geography of the forum this year covered the entire country. Teams from leading universities participated in the in-person stage: from Kazan and Novosibirsk to Saint Petersburg and Donbass.
One of the most dynamic events was the interuniversity hackathon “Technologies of urban development.” Over three days, 70 students from 8 universities and 5 regions, forming 11 teams, worked on cases from urban and business structures. The best solutions were noted by forum partners and recommended for pilot implementation. The winning team was “Cinnabon” with the project “Map of Kindness.”
The culmination was a student project competition. Initially, participants submitted works in four directions: business projects, consulting, social, and research projects. Then 16 best teams went to the final in a battle format: they answered complex questions, argued, consulted with the team, and proved the value of their ideas.
Especially noticeably at the forum, teams from GUU performed. University students took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the overall student project competition, won in several nominations, and were among the best at the hackathon. This showed that project-based learning at GUU works not formally: students are able to see the task, quickly gather a solution, defend it before experts, and bring the idea to a practical result.
The grand prize in the competition was awarded to the project “POLYANKA” — a silicone busy board for food, presented by the team from the South Ural State University. The first place was taken by the SUS team with the project “Ecosystem of digital services for pet owners.” The second place was awarded to the SUS project “FinPulse,” and the third — to the SUS project “Risks and tax security of organizations in the context of digitalization.”
A new track has appeared — a project school for master’s students “Laboratory of Project Leadership and Social Responsibility.” Here, interdisciplinary teams worked on social initiatives. The winning project was “Creating a network of student points for psychological relief.”
The forum once again demonstrated how education is changing. Here, projects do not remain on paper. They are refined, discussed with experts, and get a chance for real application. This is precisely the purpose of the “Art of Management” forum.
