Nanjing, July 7 /Xinhua/ — On Monday, an international freight train carrying auto parts departed from the China-Kazakhstan logistics base at Lianyungang port (Jiangsu Province, East China), heading to the Abylk railway station in Uzbekistan. This trip marked the 8,000th since the base began operation.
According to Nanjing customs, in the first half of 2026, the total number of China-Europe/Asia freight train shipments from this base and back amounted to 485, an increase of 3.8 percent year-on-year. In particular, in June of this year, this figure exceeded 100 for the first time.
Officially commissioned on May 19, 2014, the China-Kazakhstan logistics base at the Lianyungang port is a specific project within the “Belt and Road” initiative between China and Kazakhstan, as well as a key international logistics hub at the eastern starting point of the new Eurasian transcontinental bridge.
As a result of last year, 915 freight trains China-Europe/Asia/, serviced by this base, transported a total of 75,030 standard containers, and the total cargo turnover through it amounted to 5.1597 million tons, increasing by 13.74 percent year-on-year. -0-
