Istanbul, April 7 /Xinhua/ — One attacker was killed, and four other people, including two police officers and two attackers, were wounded on Tuesday during a shootout near the Israeli consulate in Istanbul in the Besiktas district. This was reported by the city’s governor, Davut Gul.
According to him, the terrorists aimed to attack police officers who were providing security measures in this area. The governor added that during the shootout in Rhodes, police officers received minor injuries.
The head of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi wrote on his X social media page that the attackers arrived in Istanbul in a rented car from Izmit. He added that one of the two terrorists, who are brothers, had a criminal record related to drugs. –0–
