Beijing, July 5 /Xinhua/ — From the beginning of 2026 to the end of June, the number of parcels processed by China’s express delivery services exceeded 100 billion units. This is evidenced by data published on Saturday by the State Post Bureau of China /SPB/.
This milestone was reached 9 days earlier than in 2025, the State Postal Service reported, noting that this indicates continued growth of the consumer market, as well as demonstrating new achievements in the postal industry and express delivery sector.
Lü Jiang, head of the strategic planning department at the Development and Research Center of the GPU, noted that since the beginning of this year, a number of measures to stimulate consumption continue to yield results: the consumer market is steadily growing, and the consumption structure is constantly being optimized.
According to him, the recovery of consumer demand, in turn, became the driving force behind the sustained expansion of the express delivery market in China.
The aforementioned agency also emphasized the ongoing green transformation in this industry. In June 2025, revised regulations in the express delivery sector came into force in China, encouraging the use of environmentally friendly packaging materials that are biodegradable and suitable for reuse.
According to the official representative of the GPU, Lin Hu, since then the level of packaging standardization across the entire industry has reached 86 percent, and the number of recycled and reused cardboard boxes has exceeded 1.6 billion units.
Currently, in the courier sector, the total number of vehicles powered by new and environmentally friendly energy sources has exceeded 75,000 units, added Lin Hu. “Low-carbon and intelligent delivery is changing consumers’ lifestyles,” he said.
Speaking about the prospects, the agency noted that the express delivery sector will continue to strengthen its leading role in the logistics field, thereby contributing to ensuring unobstructed economic circulation and giving new impetus to the high-quality development of the economy. -0-
