Lima, July 4 /Xinhua/ — Keiko Fujimori, the candidate from the “Popular Force” party, won the presidential elections of Peru for the 2026-2031 term, held on June 7. This was announced on Friday by Roberto Burneo, the chairman of the National Jury of Elections of the country.
“On behalf of the National Electoral Jury, I officially declare Ms. Keiko Fujimori the President of the Republic,” said R. Burneo at the results announcement ceremony.
According to the official count by the National Election Administration, K. Fujimori received over 50 percent of the votes.
K. Fujimori will take office on July 28. Luis Galarreta will become the first vice president, Miguel Torres the second. –0–
