Paris, July 3 /Xinhua/ — At least 2,025 deaths have been recorded in France amid the abnormal heat wave that struck the country at the end of June. This was stated on Friday by French Health Minister Stephanie Rist.
On the French TV channel TF1, the minister noted that, according to preliminary data, in the week from June 22 to 28, 2025 more people died than are usually expected in this period.
She reported that the number of deaths occurring at home increased by 91 percent compared to the previous week. According to her, a noticeable rise in additional deaths was observed among people over 45 years old.
At the end of June, a heat wave covered a large part of France. Abnormally high temperatures caused concern due to increasing health risks associated with more frequent extreme weather events.
