Saint Petersburg, July 2 /Xinhua/ — The Chinese concept of a community with a shared future for mankind lays the foundation for the transition of global politics from selfishness to joint actions and building a common future. This was stated in an interview with Xinhua by Olga Migunova, the scientific director of the Center for the Study of China and Asia-Pacific Countries at Saint Petersburg State University of Economics.
“The concept of a community with a shared future for humanity proposes to put an end to confrontation, zero-sum games, and hegemonism, and to embark on a path of long-term mutually beneficial cooperation. Its special significance lies in that it creates practical prerequisites for shifting global politics from selfishness to the realm of joint action,” noted the expert.
In her opinion, the initiatives proposed and developed by China clearly demonstrate the country’s aspiration to build a more just and sustainable world order for all humanity. For example, the Global Development Initiative focuses on practical cooperation and creating conditions for the independent economic growth of partner countries.
“The China Initiative on Global Security is focused on the peaceful resolution of conflicts and building indivisible security for all states, and it is already achieving noticeable consensus on the international agenda. Instead of the logic of bloc confrontation and arms races, this initiative offers mechanisms for dialogue and mediation. The initiative of global civilization rejects the Western thesis of the inevitable clash of civilizations and puts forward the principle of mutual learning and enrichment of cultures. This initiative is also resonating on the international stage,” O. Migunova pointed out.
According to the expert, the Global Governance Initiative calls for strengthening the polycentric world order with the UN at its center, giving developing countries a broader voice, and jointly developing rules to respond to new challenges such as climate change, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence regulation.
O. Migunova highlighted the relevance and timeliness of the Chinese initiatives: “The concept of a community with a shared future, the four global initiatives, and the idea of a new form of human civilization form a coherent system that offers real mechanisms for the joint prosperity of humanity.
