Moscow transport is moving to a new level of digitalization by introducing artificial intelligence into the navigation system. Speech synthesis and neural voice technology are fully integrated into audio announcements on the Zamoskvoretskaya metro line. This solution was previously successfully implemented on the Sokolnicheskaya line and in the world’s first driverless tram (route No. 10).
Experts have already created 270 audio recordings. On the Zamoskvoretskaya line, the AI voice provides navigation at all 24 stations, announces 18 transfers to the metro and city diameters (MCC, MCD), informs about exits to transport hubs, safety rules, and routes to airports.

Advantages of integrating neural networks into the urban environment:
- High responsiveness: AI allows instant changes in speech speed, intonations, and the creation of new messages when opening hubs without direct involvement of announcers.
- Acoustic seamlessness: Digital announcements are indistinguishable from human speech — they remain familiar, warm, and pleasant to the ear.
- Unified standard: The technology guarantees strict adherence to the overall tone and sound branding throughout the city’s public transport.
“By order of the Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin, we constantly improve service quality using IT solutions. Our speech synthesis service operates at the level of professional announcers, but provides colossal flexibility in managing the mega system. We will continue to scale the neural voice technology in the metro and beyond,” noted Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
