Kinshasa, July 2 /Xinhua/ — In the Democratic Republic of Congo /DRC/, 1,406 confirmed cases of Ebola fever have been registered, including 438 deaths. This is evidenced by updated data published on Wednesday by the government of the country.

It is reported that 192 patients have recovered, and another 609 people are receiving treatment or other care.

The outbreak is still concentrated in the eastern provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu, where surveillance, medical care, and response activities continue.

The government has stated that the response capacity to the epidemic is being strengthened through the deployment of vehicles and ambulances, delivery of medicines and personal protective equipment, as well as intensified efforts in communication and mobilization of the local population.

DRC announced an Ebola fever outbreak in mid-May. Health authorities and international partners have repeatedly warned that the unstable situation, population movement, pressure on medical facilities, and incomplete contact tracing continue to complicate disease control measures. –0–
