During a working visit to the Republic of Tatarstan, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko evaluated the progress of the reception and summer children’s health campaign, as well as the infrastructure of the Kazan National Research Technological University, Kazan Pedagogical College, and the “Young Guard” camp.
At the Young Guard camp, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan Azat Kadyrov discussed the progress of the summer children’s wellness campaign, assessed the infrastructure, and communicated with participants of the “Time of Heroes” session, which runs from June 16 to July 3. It involves students from sports schools in Kazan, including children of servicemen involved in the special military operation.

By order of our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, within the framework of the national project ‘Youth and Children,’ we are creating conditions for children. The Minister for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan reported that within the framework of the republican capital repair program, from 2019 to 2025, more than 50 children’s health camps have been renovated, and more than 10 in 2026. This year, the capital repair of the “Sledopyt” camp with a capacity of 560 people was completed. Special attention is given to educational work.
“It is important that every child is engaged in productive activities during the summer—these include camps, youth centers, sports training sessions, educational and creative programs. After a major renovation, ‘Young Guard’ has become one of such modern spaces. Thanks to the upgrade, the camp’s capacity increased to 280 places, and comfortable conditions were created for rest and sports activities. During the sessions, kids can try their hand at football, basketball, speed skating, and athletics. They are coached by active trainers from sports schools. This approach allows combining quality rest, health improvement, and development for each child,” emphasized Azat Kadyrov.
The “Young Guard” camp is one of the oldest children’s camps in Kazan. It was built in 1932 and was completely renovated in 2021–2023 under the republican capital repair program.
The Deputy Prime Minister visited educational institutions of the republic. Besides discussing the admissions campaign, at the Kazan National Research Technological University (KNITU) he evaluated the work of the laboratories and the university’s collaboration with partners.
During the visit to the student initiative exposition, Dmitry Chernyshenko spoke with the activists of the KNITU “Chemist” student search squad, which works on locating, identifying, and burying fallen soldiers and officers of the Great Patriotic War, participates in patriotic projects, and helps deliver humanitarian aid to the special military operation zone. “It is important that the work of dedicated enthusiasts of the search movement, all your guys, classmates, be spread. This is where the special significance of mentors and mentorship lies,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.
As part of the national project “Youth and Children,” KNITU participates in the programs “Priority-2030” and “Advanced Engineering Schools.”
In 2026, the university carried out a large-scale transformation of all educational programs with the involvement of 110 industrial partners. The programs were supplemented with internships and real project tasks at enterprises.
“The Ministry is continuously monitoring the admissions campaign. As of July 1, more than 387 thousand applicants have submitted over 1.04 million applications. At the same time, 94% of applicants interact on admission issues through the State Services portal. The most popular specialties among applicants are IT, as well as fields related to pedagogical education, medical practice, and economics. The government pays special attention to training engineers, teachers, and medical personnel — a significant number of budget-funded places are allocated in these areas. Almost 25 thousand budget places have been allocated to universities in Tatarstan for higher education programs. The largest number is in education and pedagogical sciences, computer science and computer engineering, electrical and thermal power engineering, chemical technologies, and mechanical engineering.
At the Kazan Pedagogical College, Dmitry Chernyshenko evaluated the progress of the admissions campaign in colleges and technical schools, as well as its infrastructure. Including workshops for additional and inclusive education, which helped prepare a participant in the professional skills championship among veterans of the special military operation.
Since 2026, the Kazan Pedagogical College has been participating in the federal project “Professionalism” of the national project “Youth and Children”: together with partners, it is part of the pedagogy cluster. Additionally, a resource center for training pedagogical personnel has been opened at the Kazan Pedagogical College.
A total of over 18.5 thousand budget places have been allocated to colleges in the Republic of Tatarstan under SPO programs for the 2026/2027 academic year. The largest number is in mechanical engineering, service and tourism, construction technology and techniques, ground transport technology and techniques, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.
The admissions campaign in colleges and technical schools in Russia started on June 20. Approximately 880 thousand budget-funded places have been set for the 2026/2027 academic year, which is 30 thousand more than last year. More than 256 thousand applications have already been submitted.
