On July 1, as part of a working trip to the Republic of Tatarstan, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Defense, Chairman of the State Fund “Defenders of the Fatherland” Anna Civileva evaluated the competitive and exhibition venues of the professional skills championship among veterans of the special military operation, held by the order of President Vladimir Putin, at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center.
A veteran of the special military operation who sustained a severe leg injury demonstrated to Dmitry Chernyshenko and Anna Tsivileva the operation of a passenger bus equipped with an automatic transmission and manual controls. The Deputy Prime Minister drew the regions’ attention to the importance of using such transport: “It is necessary to know about this and to acquire such vehicles so that veterans can work as drivers.”
The Deputy Prime Minister and State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Defense, Chairman of the State Fund “Defenders of the Fatherland,” were presented with Moskvich brand vehicles equipped with manual controls and a luggage compartment for loading and unloading wheelchairs. They are intended for training participants of the special military operation with disabilities to drive category B vehicles and for creating jobs for instructors at driving schools.
Dmitry Chernyshenko and Anna Tsivileva evaluated the competitive sites for the competencies “Electrical Installation,” “UAV Operator,” “Sanitary Engineering Systems Fitter,” “Welding Technologies,” “Locksmithing,” and “Prosthetics Technician.” They also visited the demonstration competency sites for “Specialist in Ground Robotic Complexes” and “Operation of Unmanned Aerial Systems.”
“Currently, within the framework of the ‘Abilympics’ championship, professional production and educational standards are being developed here. We will modify them so that there are no obstacles for young people with health conditions following injuries, allowing them to perform the same tasks of working professions. Not only will we create an accessible environment, but also accessible professional standards,” noted Dmitry Chernyshenko.
At a meeting with welders participating in the special military operation, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that they are the experts and their suggestions will help make performing tasks for skilled trades more comfortable.
“‘Abilympics’ gives our veterans the opportunity to unlock their potential, see new paths for professional development, and gain confidence in the future. This year, we significantly expanded the list of competencies in which veterans can demonstrate their skills. Every area that helps our defenders find themselves in civilian life, support their families, grow, and remain in demand in their professions is important to us. The championship is becoming an important tool for the social and professional adaptation of our heroes, their return to active life,” noted Anna Tsivileva.
At the championship exhibition area, experts demonstrated to Dmitry Chernyshenko and Anna Tsivileva the latest technologies and rehabilitation methods for SVO participants, sports equipment, as well as a stand of an adapted apartment created with the support of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation.
The head of the Federal Methodological Center for Inclusive Education of the National Center “Abilympics” of the Institute for the Development of Vocational Education, Dina Makeeva, and competency experts discussed the specifics of task performance and key aspects of professional rehabilitation for participants in the special military operation who have disabilities.
The professional skills championship among participants of the SVO took place in Kazan from June 26 to July 1 and brought together over 2,000 people, including more than a thousand contestants and experts.
Its participants demonstrated their skills and mastery in 21 in-demand competencies and 7 demonstration ones. In addition, professional testing and acquaintance with new professions were available to them.
Within the business program, issues of professional and social rehabilitation of combat veterans, accessibility of secondary vocational and higher education, professional adaptation, and new employment opportunities for participants of the special military operation with disabilities were discussed.
More than 200 partners showcased the latest rehabilitation technologies for people with disabilities for the first time.
For the participants of the championship, cultural and sports programs were also provided, as well as consultations on social support, career guidance, rehabilitation, and employment.
The organizers are the Ministry of Education of Russia, the government of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the state fund supporting participants of the special military operation “Defenders of the Fatherland.” The federal operator is the Institute for the Development of Professional Education, the regional operator is the Center for the Development of Professional Competencies of the Republic of Tatarstan.
