Beijing, June 30 /Xinhua/ — Chinese President Xi Jinping and Seychelles President Patrick Herminie exchanged congratulations on Tuesday on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In his message, Xi Jinping noted that over the 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and the Seychelles have consistently trusted and firmly supported each other, regardless of changes in the international situation, and the friendship between the two countries has remained as strong as a rock.
The Chairman of the PRC expressed firm confidence that as long as Beijing and Victoria adhere to the original goals of establishing diplomatic relations and move forward hand in hand, Sino-Seychellois ties will expand, and the prospects for bilateral cooperation will become even brighter.
Noting that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Seychelles relations, Xi Jinping stated that he is ready, together with P. Ermine, to use the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a new starting point for further progress in the traditional friendship.
The Chairman of the PRC also promised to work together with P. Ermini to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of high-quality interaction related to the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), as well as to promote joint development, in order to elevate the strategic partnership between China and the Seychelles to a higher level and bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries.
In turn, P. Ermini stated that over the past 50 years, relations between the Seychelles and China have steadily developed based on mutual respect, trust, and a commitment to joint development.
China has always been a valuable partner for the Seychelles, providing comprehensive support in improving the population’s living standards and achieving national development goals, he added.
According to P. Ermini, the Seychelles firmly adhere to the one-China principle and are ready to strengthen cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative and FOCAC for further deepening bilateral relations. –0–
