Opening remarks by Mikhail Mishustin:
Good afternoon, dear colleagues!
Today we will discuss a topic that is of utmost importance for the country’s economy, for GDP dynamics, and for improving the well-being of our citizens. It is about labor productivity.
One of the pressing challenges is the shortage of personnel. This is also confirmed by the unemployment rate. It has long been at minimal levels – 2.2% as of the end of April.
When launching new projects, not only finances and equipment are needed, but also qualified, competent employees. Moreover, with an emphasis on achieving technological leadership – primarily those who have a good education and high qualifications.
In such a situation, one of the most effective tools should be increasing labor productivity. This is a significant reserve for the growth of our economy. And a key factor for bringing it to a fundamentally new technological level.
This is a complex task. It involves efforts at enterprises, in industries, and in the economy as a whole. Modernization of fixed assets and the introduction of new equipment, acceleration of digitalization and robotization, wide use of artificial intelligence elements.
The government is systematically addressing this issue. As a result of last year’s projects on “lean manufacturing,” production in some organizations increased on average by almost 60%, while release times and excess inventory of goods were reduced by about a third.
Much also depends on the enterprises themselves on the ground. It is important for businesses to more actively eliminate unnecessary operations and inefficient processes.
