Beijing, June 30 /Xinhua/ — On June 29, in the city of Qingdao /Shandong Province, East China/, a launch ceremony for the SCO Agricultural Technology Innovation Union took place within the framework of the China-SCO Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Conference, reported the Chinese news agency Zhongguo Xinwen She on its website.
The new alliance was established at the initiative of the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences and serves as a platform for multilateral cooperation in the field of agricultural technologies, created by this academy and agricultural universities, research institutes, and enterprises from SCO countries.
The aforementioned alliance reportedly focuses on four areas, including food security, biosecurity, green development, and intelligent agriculture, combining excellent regional resources and implementing synergistic innovations throughout the entire production chain. It aims to create a center for joint scientific and technological innovation in agricultural technologies, a platform for transforming scientific and technological achievements, and a training base for SCO countries, as well as to promote the modernization and sustainable development of regional agriculture through scientific and technological innovation.
The party committee secretary of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Shandong Province, Liang Jinguan, stated that the new alliance will steadily play a role as a center of multilateral synergy, uniting the agricultural science and technology innovation resources of SCO countries, promoting work in areas such as joint scientific research, construction of international demonstration centers, training of agricultural specialists, transformation and promotion of cross-border scientific and technological achievements, in order to create a strong barrier to ensure regional food security.
