Scientific Council: New Vice-Rector and Department Head Elections

The Academic Council of SPbPU in its updated composition held the second meeting. The first, organizational one, took place immediately afterconference of staff and students, where the elections for members of the Board took place.

Following established tradition, we began by honoring polytechnic graduates who have achieved high results in various fields of activity, presenting awards, as well as diplomas for awarding academic degrees and certificates for conferring academic titles.

First of all, the rector of SPbPU, Andrey Rudskoy, congratulated Professor Nikolay Ermoshin, Doctor of Military Sciences, of the Higher School of Industrial, Civil and Road Construction of the Engineering and Construction Institute.with the awarding of the State Prize of the Russian Federation named after Marshal of the Soviet Union G. K. Zhukov.The award was granted by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for the scientific justification of technical solutions in the creation of promising models of special equipment to ensure the stable operation of transport communications and the life support of military units.

Then the awarding of candidate of science diplomas and certificates of academic titles took place.

Candidates of Technical Sciences degrees were awarded to:

Engineer of the “Synthesis of New Materials and Structures” laboratory Artyom Kim (scientific supervisor — Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Transport Anatoly Popovich) and Maria Kalugina (scientific supervisor — Doctor of Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of the Baltic State Technical University “VOENMEKH” named after D. F. Ustinov Evgeny Remshev).

The Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences degree was awarded to Sergey Semyonov, junior researcher at the A. F. Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (scientific advisor — Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Nikolay Sudar).

Senior Lecturer of the Higher School of Linguistics and Pedagogy of the State Institute of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University Evgenia Vorontsova received a Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences diploma (scientific supervisor — Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Director of the Humanities Institute Natalia Chicherina), while Pavel Nedelko, Assistant to the Rector and Senior Additional Education Teacher of the Higher School of International Educational Programs, received a Candidate of Sociological Sciences diploma.

The rector of SPbPU presented Doctor of Technical Sciences Alexander Lopota with a professorship certificate in the scientific specialty “Robots, Mechatronics, and Robotic Systems”.

Associate professor certificates were awarded to Candidate of Technical Sciences Vitaly Pavlov (scientific specialty — “Radio Engineering, including television systems and devices”) and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Dmitry Karpov (scientific specialty — “Regional and Sectoral Economics”).

For high professionalism and effective work, Andrey Rudskoy awarded a certificate of merit to SPbPU Vice-Rector for Economics and Finance Alexander Rechinsky.

The Polytechnic University was the first university in Saint Petersburg to receive the status of “Local Model” in the “Effective Region” program. The program is implemented by the Rosatom State Corporation in cooperation with the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to optimize and improve processes in the region’s areas of activity. The main executing subdivision was the Graduate School of Public Administration of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade. Andrey Rudskoy congratulated Vladimir Shchepinin, the director of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade, and the institute’s team on receiving the certificate confirming the status of SPbPU.

At the Academic Council, gold, silver, and bronze medalists of the All-Russian Student Olympiad “I am a Professional” were congratulated: Aleksei Feofilov, Igor Chepurov, Vladimir Varga, Petr Galasin, Klim Konnov, Arina Aleksandrova, Ilya Voronin,Mayu Egorova, Anastasia Kondratyeva and Elizaveta Kosheleva.

Students of the Engineering and Construction Institute excelled at the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship. The team polyForma took first place in the category “Architecture, Design, Construction, and Housing and Communal Services,” and the team MonArchi took second place.

Students of the Graduate School of Industrial Management Ilya Ushpik and Valeria Kraeva became winners of the All-Russian competition of scientific projects on promising areas of development of the mineral resource complex (the supervisor of the students is Professor of the Graduate School of Industrial Management Alexander Ilyinsky).

Vladimir Kormshchikov, a student at the Higher School of Public Administration, became the winner of the All-Russian Engineering Competition. The supervisor was Associate Professor Olga Makarova.

Head of the Pre-University Education and Talent Recruitment Directorate Nikolai Snegiryov and administrator of the Youth Trajectories Center Henri Ogannisyan received letters of appreciation from PJSC Gazprom for the high level of organization of the IX Meeting of Students of “Gazprom Classes” and their personal contribution to the professional guidance of talented schoolchildren.

The Director of the Higher School of Sports Pedagogy Vladislav Bakaev, Deputy Director of the sports complex “Polytechnik” Leonid Matusevich, Director of the student sports club “Black Bears-Polytech” Anastasia Akatova, and coach of the national football team Stepan Verbitsky were awarded a commendation by the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg “For many years of diligent work, high professionalism, and significant personal contribution to the development and promotion of physical culture and sports in St. Petersburg.”

For their contribution to the development of student sports and the effective administration of the team at the All-Russian competition “Student Hockey League Championship” for the 2025–2026 season, the Director of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism Valery Suschenko, the national hockey team coach Roman Mikhailychenko, and administrator Anastasia Aborneva received letters of appreciation from the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Saint Petersburg and honorary certificates from SPbPU.

The achievements of the athletes truly deserve such high praise. This is also confirmed bythe long-awaited victory of the Polytech teamin the Premier League of the Saint Petersburg student football competitions of the 2026 season. At the end of the season, the team’s coach Stepan Verbitsky and player Artyom Tereshchuk were recognized as the best in their respective roles.

Before moving on to the agenda of the meeting, the Rector of Polytech, Andrey Rudskoy, announced the establishment of the position of Vice-Rector for Social and Organizational Activities. Vyacheslav Olshevsky will perform his duties.

On the first agenda item, the Vice-Rector for Educational Activities, Chair of the PPS Competition Commission Lyudmila Pankova spoke. She reported on the results of the competition for filling teaching positions related to the faculty staff of SPbPU.

The next item on the agenda was the election of department heads.

The following were elected based on the results of the electronic voting:

Head of the UNESCO Department “Quality Management in Education for Sustainable Development”, Doctor of Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Okrepilov;
Head of the Department of Applied Chemistry, Candidate of Sciences Alexander Semencha;
Head of the basic department “Financial Monitoring” at MRU of Rosfinmonitoring for the NWFD, Candidate of Sciences Herman Shatsky;
head of the base department “Gas turbine units for gas pumping stations” based at “Gazprom Transgaz Saint Petersburg”, Doctor of Sciences, Professor Georgy Fokin;
Head of the basic department “Pipeline Transport of Hydrocarbons” based at “Gazprom VNIIGAZ”, Candidate of Sciences Maksim Nedzvetskiy;
Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Candidate of Sciences, Associate Professor Tatyana Krepkaia;
Head of the basic department “Ship Information and Control Systems” at JSC “Concern “NPO “Aurora”, Doctor of Sciences, Professor Vladimir Bobrovich;
Head of the basic department “Management Processes in High-Tech Manufacturing” at OAO “LENPOLIGRAMMASH”, Doctor of Science, Professor Kirill Soloveychik.

The university’s academic secretary Dmitry Karpov reported on the control over the implementation of directives.

Among the current issues, Vice-Rector for Economics and Finance Alexander Rechinsky made a statement about setting the scholarship amounts for students starting from September 1, 2026.
