Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin. They discussed the development of tourism, sports, and education in the region.
Also, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Governor, together with Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, held a meeting on the implementation of social and educational projects in the Nizhny Novgorod region and the development of the cluster “Arzamas – Diveevo – Sarov.”
“Today, in the Nizhny Novgorod region, all conditions have been created for it to become a true magnet for ambitious young people. We see how the subject is becoming a driver of educational innovations. Thanks to the tools of the national project ‘Youth and Children,’ a modern ecosystem is being formed to support talents and achieve the country’s technological leadership. Among such measures are the ‘Priority-2030’ program and the federal project ‘Professionalism,’ advanced engineering schools, and the world-class IT campus ‘Neimark.’ All of this is an example of how the joint work of the Government of Russia and the region creates broad opportunities for self-realization and professional growth of citizens,” noted Dmitry Chernyshenko.
In the world-class IT campus “Neymark,” being created as part of the national project “Youth and Children,” four new directions have appeared – telecommunications systems design, AI robotics, bioengineering, as well as the legal support for the use of artificial intelligence. Now, nine network educational programs are available to applicants.
“I would like to point out that we have introduced a comprehensive support program for talented students – ‘Grant 360’. In their first year of study, they will be able to receive up to 1 million rubles. The grant includes full compensation for living in campus co-livings, a monthly scholarship of up to 60 thousand rubles, and a one-time payment. Winners of federal Olympiads and applicants with high Unified State Exam scores in specialized subjects will be eligible for the grant. This is a serious incentive for strong students from all over the country to enroll with us,” emphasized Gleb Nikitin.
Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the active participation of the Nizhny Novgorod region in the implementation of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality.” Thanks to this, new hotels are being built in the region, and tourist routes and attractions are being developed.
One of the major tourist events of this summer will be the folk arts and crafts festival “Masters of the Golden Ring,” which will take place with the support of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality.” The event will be held as part of City Day on July 18–19.
The head of the region added that guests can expect an exhibition and sale of products by craftsmen and enterprises of folk arts and crafts, master classes, performances by creative groups, and gastronomic zones will be open.
“The launch of the new festival is given special significance by the 90th anniversary of the ‘Gorodets painting’ factory, whose jubilee will be widely celebrated these days. The large-scale event aims to emphasize the value of handcrafted art as a benchmark of the ‘one hundred percent authentic Russia,’ where each ornament carries the warmth of the masters’ hands and the living soul of folk culture. The festival will unite City Day, the talent of masters, and modern hospitality standards to turn Gorodets into one of the main attractions of the Golden Ring,” he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region also discussed the development of sports in the region, including new directions. In 2025, the Nizhny Novgorod Region was selected as a pilot region for the development of innovative and technological sports. By the order of Dmitry Chernyshenko, the relevant regional ministry prepared a concept for the development of innovative and technological sports. Within its framework, phygital centers are already operating in 8 municipalities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
“The development of innovative sports has become a hallmark of the region – there are 8 phygital centers operating here, more than 50 flagship competitions are held, and last year Nizhny Novgorod was the capital of the Phygital Games – key competitions for selection to the ‘Games of the Future.’ The development of this format is important, because, as our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin notes, ‘relevant, spectacular, dynamic, it is capable of inspiring interest in physical culture and a healthy lifestyle among people of all generations,'” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
In 2026, the region hosted the TechnoSport festival of innovative and technological sports, with about 600 athletes from various Russian regions participating. For the third consecutive year, “FidzhitalCamp” has been held – sports training camps that bring together athletes and children interested in IT, helping to engage kids who previously did not participate in sports in regular physical activities.
