Several additional professional education programs have been completed at the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great. They brought together various categories of participants: specialists from industrial enterprises of the Republic of Belarus, university students from Saint Petersburg, and veterans of the special military operation. Each educational initiative became an important contribution to the development of human resources potential, strengthening partnership ties, and expanding professional development opportunities for different target audiences.
For employees of industrial enterprises of the Republic of Belarus, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University has developed and implemented a professional development program “Modern HR Technologies in Personnel Management.” The development and implementation of the program were carried out by the Directorate of Continuing Education and Industry Partnership in cooperation with the Higher School of Public Administration.
The participants studied current labor market trends, approaches to motivating employees of different generations, mentoring tools, and models of business-education interaction. Special attention was paid to the digital transformation of HR processes — from the implementation of personnel information protection systems to comprehensive automation of personnel management. They also thoroughly analyzed the causes of staff turnover and developed strategies to reduce it. A separate module was a field session at the AO “Parnas-M” factory, where participants practically studied methods of collecting and systematizing personnel data. The final day was devoted to personnel security and anti-corruption policy.
All participants successfully passed the final certification and received certificates of advanced training. Acting Director of the Higher School of Public Administration Olga Nadezhina noted: We aimed to create a program that would not just provide theoretical knowledge, but offer ready-made, tested solutions for the everyday work of HR specialists. Special emphasis was placed on issues of motivation and talent retention, as human capital is today the main resource for the development of any enterprise. I am confident that the competencies acquired will help our Belarusian colleagues take personnel management to a qualitatively new level.
Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University has been developing the training and advanced qualification of specialists in personnel management for many years. We implement our own personnel projects for industry, government bodies, and large employers, and also serve as a platform for professional dialogue at the St. Petersburg Forum on Continuing Professional Education. It is especially important that such programs not only transfer best practices but also establish sustainable professional connections between universities, enterprises, and the expert community of our countries. The development of human capital today is one of the key factors in technological development and the competitiveness of the economy, emphasized Dmitry Tikhonov, Vice-Rector for Continuing and Pre-University Education at SPbPU.
The third cohort of the educational program “Leaders of the Future Petersburg” has also been completed at SPbPU. The project, created in 2023 on the initiative of the founder and CEO of PSK Group Anton Vasiliev and leadership competencies development methodologist Anastasia Davydova, has established itself as a unique platform uniting the university, the business community, and talented youth.
Dmitry Tikhonov noted: This program helps connect the university, business, and real-world challenges. It develops a talent pool that is in demand both in the city and across the country. But most importantly, it gives students the opportunity to experience entrepreneurship not just as a set of tools, but as a mindset, teaching them to approach problem-solving creatively and to recognize the significance of their work in any professional environment.
Participants — students of Polytech and other universities in Saint Petersburg — studied the basics of entrepreneurship, corporate culture, investments, marketing, and public speaking throughout the academic year. The experts were active entrepreneurs and representatives from various industries. The final stage was the pitch of projects: among the presented ideas were CRM systems, AI solutions for sales, tourism projects, marketing agencies, educational programs, and cosmetic brands. Investors, analysts, and experts from the relevant industries evaluated the developments, asking important questions and rigorously testing the projects.
The culmination was a large-scale graduation evening that brought together more than 100 graduates, curators, and representatives of the business community. Each participant received a certificate and a qualification upgrade credential.
Anastasia Davydova emphasized: During this stream, we witnessed amazing transformations: the participants came with timid hypotheses but left with clear roadmaps and ready projects. Some have already launched startups, received initial investments, or internship offers. We have formed a community that will continue to support each other even after graduation.
The fourth season will start this fall with an updated program and new modules.
At the Multicenter for Social and Labor Integration of the Leningrad Region, certificates of profession were awarded to graduates of the vocational training program “CNC Machine Operator.”
Let us recall that in September 2025, SPbPU and Multicentersigned a strategic cooperation agreement, which laid the foundation for the implementation of joint educational projects for the professional training and retraining of participants of the special military operation. The current graduation is already the second, and a new group of students will start in the fall.
The program is one of the most thoroughly developed regional examples of professional adaptation and labor integration of veterans of the special military operation.
The project is coordinated by the Directorate of Continuing Education and Industry Partnership of SPbPU together with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials, and Transport. The program has been developed taking into account the professional experience and particularities of supporting combat veterans.
During the training, the participants mastered the basics of CNC machine programming, learned to read design documentation, select cutting tools and technological fixtures, set processing modes, and manufacture parts on modern equipment.
The solemn ceremony of awarding course completion documents took place with the participation of the deputies director of the Multicenter Ekaterina Stepanova and Yulia Miller, the head of the Directorate of Additional Education and Industry Partnership of SPbPU Ivan Kurt, as well as the acting director of the Higher School of Mechanical Engineering Anton Naumov.
This educational project goes far beyond traditional learning. It creates real opportunities for veterans to develop professionally and return to active employment. Together with the Multicenter, we are forming an adaptive educational environment where life experience, discipline, responsibility, and decision-making ability become competitive advantages in modern production. Today, we see high interest in this practice from other regions and expect that the accumulated experience will be in demand when forming similar programs in various regions of the Russian Federation, — noted Ivan Kurta.
Deputy Director of the Multicenter for Social and Labor Integration of the Leningrad Region, Ekaterina Stepanova, emphasized: It is especially important for us that the program not only provides a person with a new profession but also creates conditions for a successful return to active social and work life. Cooperation with the Polytechnic University ensures a high level of training and allows for the integration of educational, industrial, and rehabilitation resources in the interests of our SVO veterans.
Also, as part of the development of the partnership between SPbPU and the Multicenter for Social and Labor Integration of the Leningrad Region, an introductory tour of the educational and production facilities of the institution was organized for university teachers and specialists. Participants got acquainted with the professional training infrastructure, modern rehabilitation practices, educational workshops, and laboratories.
The partners discussed prospects for further cooperation, exchange of experience, and joint implementation of projects in the field of inclusive education, vocational training, and workforce development for industry.
Each of the implemented initiatives addresses specific human capital development tasks, strengthens the interaction of the university with employers, government authorities, educational organizations, and industry partners, and also contributes to the formation of new professional communities.
Currently, the portfolio of SPbPU includes dozens of additional professional education programs of various orientations — from short-term advanced training courses to professional retraining programs. Special emphasis is placed on educational solutions in the fields of technological leadership, unmanned aerial systems, modern production technologies, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, industrial safety, and workforce preparation for priority sectors of the economy. Up-to-date information on new educational projects and student enrollment is regularly published onuniversity resources.
By developing modern educational formats and practice-oriented personnel training models, Polytech confirms its status as one of the leading centers of continuing professional education in the country, capable of promptly responding to the demands of the economy, industry, and society.
