This year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Recently, Farai Marapira, Director of Information and Publicity of Zimbabwe’s ruling party, the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF), gave an exclusive interview to a CGTN (China Global Television Network) correspondent.
In an interview, Farai Marapira stated that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people achieved national independence and liberation, carried out economic development and the country’s prosperity, thereby creating a miracle in the history of human development.
China in the past faced a serious problem of poverty, but under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, thanks to a set of effective measures, the country managed to eliminate absolute poverty. For a country with a population of over a billion people, this is not just an achievement but a truly significant success. Moreover, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the country holds leading positions in the world in science and technology, and continuous technological progress genuinely improves the well-being of the people and makes their lives more convenient.
This year marks the first year of the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). Farai Marapira noted that the use of medium- and long-term plans to guide economic and social development is an important state management tool of the Communist Party of China, as well as a key strategic project ensuring the rapid development of China’s economy and society. The long-term and effective implementation of these plans is impossible without the close attention of the Communist Party of China to its own construction and self-improvement.
In the long term, five-year plans are characterized by a high degree of systematization and consistency; their structure, resembling a chain whose links are tightly connected, greatly contributes to the sustainable and stable socioeconomic development of China. Five-year plans have become a key institutional mechanism ensuring China’s long-term development. This has been made possible by the Communist Party of China constantly strengthening its cadre, increasing the openness and transparency of state governance, and achieving significant success in the fight against corruption. This set of measures has substantially strengthened the Chinese people’s trust in the leadership of the Communist Party of China and in the system of state governance.
Farai Marapira stated that since its founding in 1963, ZANU-PF has maintained deep friendly relations with the Communist Party of China. For many years, China has actively promoted cooperation with African countries, including Zimbabwe, and plays an indispensable role in facilitating the development of Africa.
Farai Marapira noted that “China is Zimbabwe’s largest trading partner as well as our steadfast friend.” In the process of developing infrastructure and the economy, Zimbabwe benefits from the China-proposed initiative to jointly build the “One Belt, One Road.” In the absence of external investments, including from the West, China has played a constructive role. The development of trade with China and the attraction of Chinese investments have significantly contributed to Zimbabwe’s economic development.
On the eve of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Farai Marapira expressed hope for strengthening exchanges and cooperation between ZANU-PF and the Communist Party of China, as well as that Zimbabwe-China cooperation would become a model of South-South cooperation and contribute to peace and development worldwide.
