Moscow, June 27 /Xinhua/ — The photo exhibition “Cooperation between China and Russia in the field of education: past and present,” dedicated to the history and current state of bilateral educational interaction between the two countries, opened on Friday at the Chinese Embassy in Moscow. The project tells about the key stages of educational cooperation between the two countries — from the Soviet period to the present day — and demonstrates the results achieved over the past decades.
The Ambassador of the PRC to the Russian Federation, Zhang Hanhui, noted that the exhibition covers the entire period since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, including the stage of cooperation with the Soviet Union and the subsequent interaction with the Russian Federation. “In the 1950s, Chinese-Soviet educational cooperation was very fruitful, and contemporary Chinese-Russian interaction in the field of education is also at the peak of bilateral relations. The exhibition presents outstanding achievements of past years. These successes have already become part of history, but serve as a guideline for prospective development,” the diplomat emphasized.
According to the envoy, educational interaction between the two states solves a number of key tasks. “Thanks to exchanges and joint work, we contribute to mutual development, prepare qualified specialists for creative activities, and promote the rapprochement of the peoples of our countries: young people need to communicate more actively to strengthen mutual understanding,” noted Zhang Hanxue. He also expressed confidence that after the implementation of the cross-Education Years of China and Russia, there will be even more materials for future exhibitions.
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky highly appreciated the quality of the exhibition. “The exhibition is made very professionally, with interest in the topic, with love for history, and with respect for those people who over the course of several decades have developed educational cooperation between our countries,” he said. According to K. Mogilevsky, today’s cooperation mutually enriches both people and is an important element of Russian-Chinese relations. “It is no coincidence that the leaders decided to declare these years as years of cooperation in the field of education,” added the deputy minister.
On the same day, a press conference and a ceremonial reception were held at the Chinese Embassy in Russia on the occasion of the Cross Years of the Establishment of China and Russia.
Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Andrey Korneev emphasized that holding cross Years of Education between Russia and China will bring the peoples of the two countries even closer and give a new impetus to bilateral educational dialogue. He also noted the growing popularity of studying the Russian language in China and announced that Russia is ready to send the best Russian language teachers to help Chinese young men and women master the language.
The exhibition was prepared by the information agency Xinhua and the Embassy of the PRC in the Russian Federation. On May 20, 2026, in Beijing, a ceremony was held to open the Cross-Year of China and Russia — the tenth intergovernmental thematic year in bilateral relations. The exhibition is timed to this significant event and is intended to demonstrate the history and results of educational cooperation between the two countries, as well as to contribute to its development at a higher level.
