Second-year master’s student majoring in “Construction Technologies”Alesya PogodaBecame the laureate of the All-Russian engineering competition for students and graduate students of engineering fields. Her scientific advisor is the head of the Department of Construction Production Technology at SPBGASU, Doctor of Technical Sciences Anton Gaydo.

The work devoted to the relevant topic “Use of non-extractable sheet piling as a permanent retaining structure for underground facilities” received a high rating from the jury. The purpose of the study was to justify the constructive and technological parameters of devices of similar structures made of steel non-extractable sheet piling.

Several important tasks were solved in the course of the master’s thesis research:

  • Using techno-economic calculation, the effectiveness of applying steel sheet piling technology for creating permanent barriers has been proven;
  • A methodology for the use of steel sheet piling has been developed applicable to specific engineering and geological conditions of the construction site;
  • Created a technical regulation for the installation of sheet piles, including recommendations on design, preparation of technological maps, and solutions for ensuring waterproofing of sheet pile enclosures.

The collaboration with RBI, which provided materials for analysis, added particular practical value to the work. Using real construction projects of Alesya Pogoda as an example, it clearly demonstrated that the proposed solution not only matches traditional methods in terms of operational qualities but also ensures savings of up to 30%, as well as allows reducing the production time of works by four to six months.

Previously, the bachelor’s thesis of the master’s student in the training direction 08.04.01 Construction (profile “Construction Technologies”) was awarded first place in the intra-university competition.
