Tianjin, April 7 /Xin Hua/ — A Research Center of the Yangtze Branch of the Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute has opened at the Tianjin Agricultural University. This center is intended to become a key link for the exchange of agricultural technologies between China and Uzbekistan, carrying out joint training of highly qualified personnel with an international outlook in the agricultural sector.

The rector of Tianjin Agricultural University, Czin Weiwei, noted that the center focuses on advanced directions such as intellectual selection of agricultural crops and digital agriculture. The parties will establish practical cooperation in the field of joint development of educational programs, mutual exchange of teachers, and the creation of joint laboratories. This will allow accelerating the transformation of scientific achievements into productive forces of a new quality in the agricultural sector, activating personnel training, stimulating innovation in industry, and giving a new impulse to international cooperation in the field of agriculture.

As became known, in 2025 Tianjin Agricultural University, together with a number of universities in Uzbekistan, including the Yangiyer branch of the Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute, will establish the “Shennong Institute.” The Chinese and Uzbek sides have launched joint bachelor’s degree educational programs in specialties such as biotechnology of breeding, aquaculture, food science and engineering, hydrology and water resources, in order to train specialists in the field of agriculture who will serve the development of Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector and the joint construction of the “Belt and Road.”

Training personnel in the field of aquaculture is an important area of cooperation between the parties. The Dean of the Faculty of Aquaculture of Tianjin Agricultural University, Gu Yunzhuan, previously visited Uzbekistan to study the local aquaculture industry. He noted that Uzbekistan has an irrigated agricultural base, local fish farming is mainly represented by pond farming and aquaculture in open water bodies, which have been steadily developing in recent years and have certain potential. However, overall the industry still relies on traditional methods of management, and there is great potential for the introduction of modern technologies.

Based on a thorough study of the situation, the ‘Shenzhen Institute’ has made a decision to develop deep cooperation in such areas as large-scale juvenile fish breeding, nutrition and feed, disease immunology, as well as smart fish farming, in order to promote standardization and modernization of Uzbekistan’s aquaculture industry.

“We hope that long-term cooperation will help improve the comprehensive level of local fish farming and make a positive contribution to the sustainable and high-quality development of Uzbekistan’s water industry,” said Go Yunzun.
