Minsk, June 26 /Xin Hua/ — The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, spoke about his meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. The corresponding information was published by the press service of the head of the Belarusian state on Thursday.
“I will say this directly: ‘Guys, tell your president: if he thinks he can talk to us like that and also drag us into a war, then he must understand that the quality of the war will instantly change. This war will be completely different,'” noted A. Lukashenko.
He emphasized that Belarus does not need to be dragged into the war. “And we should not be pushed into it by the fact that the Russian ambassador in Belarus, Boris Gryzlov, is organizing a process to drag us into the war. We have discussed this topic a thousand times with the President of Russia. Well, how can we fight against Ukrainians here if it’s mainly territorial troops on that side? Are we supposed to shoot these organizers, militiamen, and workers who do not want to fight with Belarusians? We also will not fight with Ukrainians,” — noted A. Lukashenko and added that the Belarusian position is peaceful, but in any situation Belarus will be alongside Russia.
“We understand that it might be if the West again interferes here and wins. I’m not talking about Ukraine. What kind of Ukraine? It’s not about Ukraine. We understand who we are fighting with today. If they want peace — let’s negotiate substantively. We don’t need war. We lack land, our economy is lacking, and there are problems. Therefore, no confrontation,” summarized the Belarusian leader.
