Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev visited the branch of the “Voin” center in the Murmansk region. During the working visit, he familiarized himself with the material and technical base of the branch, met with cadets and instructors, and also assessed the organization of the summer military-patriotic camp. Together with the Vice Prime Minister, the Governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis spoke with the instructors and cadets.

Special attention was given to the camp where on June 20 a new summer military-patriotic shift “Time of Young Heroes” started. Yuri Trutnev attended the specialized activities and chatted with the participants.

“Today, one of the instructors reminded me about the basic military training course during the USSR times. I went through it and later even more training courses. Today, lessons in school on the subject ‘Basics of Safety and Homeland Protection’ include only a small part of what young men and women need to confidently feel themselves in a surrounding that is not very peaceful and not very kind. Therefore, within the framework of the ‘Warrior’ center, together with instructors and center leaders, we try to give the kids more. And most importantly, they like it.”The most important thing is that this is not about the objects they are sitting on according to the principle “the sooner this lesson is over”. Everyone has lively interest in their eyes, and when asked the question “like or dislike,” they immediately smile and say they like it. At the camp we visited, it is the second day of classes. But I know well that after attending the courses, the children begin to orient themselves towards their teachers, their instructors as leaders. They take them as examples.”And this is correct, because most instructors have undergone combat training and have indeed proven that they can not only call to defend the country, but can also fight for it if necessary,” said Yuri Trutnev.

This year, for the first two sessions of “Time of Young Heroes” in the Murmansk region, 300 cadets have already been trained. In total, in 2026, the center for civil-patriotic education “In the North — to live” plans to hold five sessions, in which about 800 schoolchildren from the region will participate.

The shift program traditionally combines intensive military-sports training, patriotic education, and active recreation. Over 21 days, cadets master military-applied skills, get acquainted with modern military professions, strengthen physical qualities and discipline, and study information security rules.

Educational work is enriched with lessons on the history of Russia and the Kola region, screenings of patriotic films as part of the “War.Cinema” project, tourist hikes, and cultural-leisure events. The key event of each shift is an open tournament on the partial disassembly and assembly of the “Kalashnikov Time” rifle, dedicated to the memory of the legendary designer of small arms Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov.

“It is fundamentally important for us that young northerners have every opportunity not only to receive quality education, but also to develop a strong character, a sense of responsibility for their country, and respect for its history. The ‘Warrior’ Center addresses precisely this task. Here, the guys gain practical skills, learn to work in a team, make decisions in complex situations, and become more confident in themselves. It is especially important that in the Murmansk region, the program is supplemented with Arctic training, which takes into account the specifics of the Far North.”We see with what interest schoolchildren participate in these programs, and this confirms that such a format is in demand and really helps to nurture a generation of strong, prepared, and caring young people,” noted Andrey Chibis.

“Raising children with love for their country is the main part of upbringing, because a person who does not understand what a Motherland is, who is not ready, if necessary, to defend it, is a person who simply has no support under their feet, who simply will not be able to live confidently further. Who are we if we betray the memory of our fathers and grandfathers who crushed fascism during the Great Patriotic War? It seems to me that patriotism is a quality that simply must be in a citizen, a quality that we must instill in our children.””At some point during the upbringing of the younger generation, we paid insufficient attention to this, now we just need to catch up,” believes Yuri Trutnev.

The branch of the “Warrior” center in the Murmansk region was established in 2024, and since September 2025 has been operating based at the Governor’s Lyceum. Over the entire period, more than 5,500 cadets have been trained here.

The key specialization of the branch is “Arctic Training,” which, in addition to the main program, combines mountaineering training and tactical medicine (“Arctic Rescue”), as well as the development of survival skills in field conditions.

The “Warrior” Center was established by the order of the President of the Russian Federation on December 1, 2022. Its mission–Preparation of a new generation of patriots who love their Motherland and know how to defend it.
