Tehran, April 7 /Xinhua/ — The supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, expressed condolences in connection with the death of the intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Lieutenant General Majid Khademi, stating that “murders and crimes” against the Iranian leadership will not change the country’s course.

In a written statement, M. Khamenei praised the head of intelligence for a decade of “covert efforts in the fields of security, intelligence, and defense” in Iran.

The overall leader also accused Israel and the USA of having shifted to “terrorism and murder” after a “series of defeats.” M. Khadimi was killed in Tehran on Monday as a result of an airstrike, responsibility for which was taken by Israel.

M. Khamenei expressed condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased, as well as to other commanders of the intelligence department of the KSI.

M. Khademi was appointed head of intelligence in June last year after a 12-day war between Iran and Israel, during which the former head of this service, Mohammad Kazemi, was killed.

On February 28, Israel and the USA launched joint attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, resulting in the death of former supreme leader Ali Khamenei, members of his family, high-ranking military commanders, and civilians. In response, Iran began a series of missile and drone strikes on Israel and American bases and facilities in the Middle East.
