Bank lending to companies (including bonds) increased by 1.5% (+1.9% in April), mainly due to loans: half of them were issued to state companies and developers, the rest were evenly distributed across sectors. In annual terms, the indicator grew by 12.8 trillion rubles, or by 13.6% (+12.1 trillion rubles, or +12.8%, a month earlier).
According to preliminary data, household mortgage debt has again moderately increased (+0.3% after +0.4% in April). The annual growth amounted to 2.3 trillion rubles, or +10.4%, almost unchanged compared to the previous month.
The consumer credit portfolio growth in May accelerated significantly (to +1.4% after +0.1% in April), which may be explained by the seasonal expenses of the population on vacations. At the same time, on an annual basis, the portfolio decreased (-0.1 trillion rubles, or -0.9%, after -0.3 trillion rubles, or -2.3%, in April) due to negative dynamics in previous months.
Household funds in banks decreased by 0.8% (+1.7% in April), which may be related to the advance payment of May social benefits in April and holiday spending. At the same time, funds of legal entities grew significantly by 2.9% after weak dynamics in April (+0.3%), associated with the payment of quarterly taxes. Growth in May was mainly provided by exporting companies.
The profit of the banking sector amounted to 362 billion rubles, which as a whole corresponds to the result of April. At the same time, the overall financial result in May was slightly lower than the profit (352 billion rubles) due to the negative revaluation of debt securities, directly reflected in the capital.
