Beijing, June 22 /Xinhua/ — In the first 5 months of 2026, the postal industry of China recorded a stable growth in delivery volumes, according to data published on Monday by the State Post Bureau (SPB) of the PRC.
During the reporting period, 89.89 billion parcels were processed in the postal industry, which is 4.3 percent more in annual terms. At the same time, 82.87 billion parcels were processed in the express delivery sector, with a growth of 5.2 percent.
In the segmentation by volume of operations of the express delivery sector within a single city, it decreased by 8.5% year-on-year and amounted to 5.88 billion parcels, while the volume of intercity shipments increased by 6.4% to 75.22 billion parcels.
According to published data on Monday, the number of international express parcels, as well as parcels sent to special administrative regions /SAR/ of Xianggang and Aomen and the Chinese region of Taiwan and back, from January to May reached 1.78 billion, which is 7.4% more than in the same period last year.
China’s rapidly growing express delivery market, which handles more than 16 billion parcels monthly and over 6,200 parcels per second, is considered an indicator of the country’s economic dynamism and consumer potential. For more than ten years, China’s express delivery market has been the largest in the world, partly due to the active growth of online consumption. -0-
