Russian AI platform ViSaver presented at the 2026 World Youth Development Forum in Wuhan

Wuhan, June 19 /Xinhua/ — At the recently concluded World Youth Development Forum-2026 held in the city of Wuhan, Hubei Province, Central China, the AI platform ViSaver, developed by Russian researcher Anastasia Semenova together with her team, was presented.

The main function of this platform is instant search through video files using keywords, terms, and visual scenes. The idea of its creation came to A. Semenova three years ago, when she spent hours watching many hours of lecture video recordings for just one needed fragment while preparing for exams.

“Why can’t I just perform a search within the video to find exact answers to my question?” recalls A. Semenova. Not finding a ready-made solution on the market, she decided to create it herself. Three years later, simultaneously with completing her PhD at the National Research University “Higher School of Economics,” the idea became a reality.

The ViSaver project became one of more than 170 youth initiatives presented at the Week for the Promotion of the Global Youth Development Program – an accompanying event within the framework of the World Youth Development Forum 2026, which gathered over 500 participants from UN agencies, international youth organizations, and more than 120 countries and regions around the world.

In addition to the educational sector, ViSaver can also help automate video moderation and detect content related to violence, abuse, smoking, drugs, or alcohol, without the need for reviewers to watch every clip.

“People used to do this manually. They filtered such illegal or inappropriate content with their own eyes,” said the developer. “It’s slow, expensive, inefficient, and harsh on the people who are doing all this monitoring.”

The project reflects a general trend noted by many forum participants: artificial intelligence is increasingly being used to automate repetitive routine tasks, accelerate research processes, and extract benefits from previously inaccessible massive data sets.

At the forum, researchers from China, Malaysia, Brazil, and other countries also demonstrated their own AI projects for interdisciplinary scientific research, article writing, disinformation detection in the media, and so on.

According to A. Semenova’s observations, AI is already seriously transforming the Russian higher education system. Scientific research at universities has become faster, but along with this, new tasks have arisen for teachers. Since students massively use AI for preparing assignments, universities are changing the format of assessment tasks: now they require from students not just an answer, but an analysis of their own logical reasoning.

In society, there are often concerns that artificial intelligence will lead to job losses, but A. Semenov looks at the prospects optimistically. He compares the spread of AI to the transition from horses to automobiles: new technology does not replace humans, but complements their capabilities.

“Artificial intelligence is like a car for our work processes. With AI, we will be able to handle much more complex tasks,” says the specialist.

This idea was close to many forum participants who exchanged ideas and discussed prospects for future collaboration.

“I believe that Russia, China, and other countries have many common areas of work,” A. Semenov said. “I am very glad to be here because we can share accumulated experience and together figure out how to apply artificial intelligence even more effectively.” -0-
