An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

On June 20, the admission campaign will start at Novosibirsk State University — 2026. This year, the university has opened 1390 budget-funded places for all bachelor’s and specialist training programs, as well as 610 budget-funded places for master’s programs.

In 2026, a number of changes were made to the admission rules. One of them concerns the methods of submitting documents. If earlier applicants could use four options, now only three remain: via the super service “Admission to university online”, in person, or by mail.

The changes also affected the admission to target places. From 2026, the target quota will be established in the form of detailed target quotas in accordance with the procedure established by the Government of the Russian Federation. Thus, each target place will be assigned to a specific customer.

New rules also apply to graduates of secondary vocational education organizations. They will be able to apply through internal entrance examinations only when enrolling in higher education programs of the same profile they had in college, if the university has established such a relationship. In all other cases, passing the Unified State Exam (USE) is required.

At NSU, SPO graduates will be able to enroll based on the results of internal entrance examinations in a number of training areas, including history, philosophy, journalism, mathematics and computer science, physics, software engineering, mechatronics and robotics, applied informatics, and others. Detailed information about the compliance of SPO and VO programs is posted onNGU website .

Another innovation concerns the receipt of results from centralized testing (CT) and the centralized exam (CE) of the Republic of Belarus. If earlier only Belarusian citizens could use this opportunity, now the results of CT and CE can also be used by Russian citizens who took exams in Belarus.

Changes affected foreign applicants: now they will be able to enroll based on the results of internal entrance exams conducted by Russian universities, but only in the absence of valid Unified State Exam (USE) results for the corresponding subjects.

In addition, the procedure for working with consent for enrollment has changed: now it can be revoked in any way regardless of the method of submitting documents. At the same time, doing this on the day of the enrollment order issuance and on the day before it will be impossible.

Updated dates for the issuance of orders for enrollment in bachelor’s and specialist programs. The early enrollment stage will take place on August 3, the main enrollment on August 7. Orders for master’s programs will be published on August 25.

In 2026, the admission campaign will be conducted taking into account a number of changes aimed at increasing transparency and convenience of admission. It is important for applicants to familiarize themselves in advance with the new rules, deadlines, and features of document submission in order to properly plan the admission process., — notes the head of the academic policy department of NGUMarina Shashkova.
