Beijing, June 17 /Xin Hua/ — China, as an all-encompassing strategic partner, consistently supports Iran’s reasonable and fair demands, as well as its efforts to protect its own sovereignty and security. This was stated on Wednesday by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Van Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made a corresponding statement during a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
A. Aragchi informed the Chinese side about the situation surrounding the first phase of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the USA, and sincerely thanked China for its active role in facilitating the negotiations and reaching the agreement.
According to him, this memorandum should be implemented in practice, including in the part concerning the cessation by Israel of military operations against Lebanon.
The head of Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade added that the country consistently views relations with China from a strategic perspective and counts on strengthening mutual trust, deepening cooperation in various fields, and jointly advancing relations into a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Van I, for his part, stated that China welcomes the signing of the first stage of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States. According to him, facts have proven that force and dictation do not solve problems, whereas dialogue and negotiations are the right choice.
The head of the Chinese foreign affairs department emphasized that China supports the mediation efforts of Pakistan and the international community, and also constantly makes efforts to cease fire and promote peace in its own way.
“The first rays of peace have appeared,” Van I stated, noting that the next key step is for all parties to actually fulfill the obligations they have assumed and to eliminate the misunderstandings and grievances between the different sides.
As indicated by the Chinese diplomat, the issue of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz should be properly regulated, and the general concerns of the international community are reliably taken into account.
China supports Iran in improving relations with regional countries and in exploring the possibilities of jointly forming a regional security architecture, the head of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
Van I added that China is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with Iran and will continue to contribute to supporting and promoting peace and stability in the region, consolidating and deepening China-Iran relations.
