Tehran, June 17 /Xin Hua/ — Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed on Wednesday with the head of Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the USA on ending the war.
According to a statement published by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, during a telephone conversation, A. Araqchi informed S. Lavrov about the details of the memorandum, emphasizing the responsibility of the United States for the proper fulfillment of the provisions of the deal, and also pointed out the inadmissibility of Israel’s “aggressive actions” against Lebanon.
S. Lavrov welcomed the agreement on the memorandum, stating the Russian side’s support for the implementation of its provisions.
Foreign ministers called on the international community and the UN Security Council to support the memorandum, emphasizing the necessity of continuing diplomatic cooperation between the countries of the region to ensure peace and stability, the statement of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.
The parties also discussed bilateral relations and regional issues representing mutual interest.
In the early hours of June 16, the United States, Pakistan, and Iran announced the agreement of a memorandum of understanding on the cessation of war after several weeks of negotiations, and also announced that the document will be officially signed on June 19 in Switzerland.
