Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova took part in the opening of the exhibition “Culture of the New,” dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Presidential Cultural Initiatives Fund. The exhibition opened at the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia.
Tatyana Golikova read out the congratulation from the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to the team of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives: “Over the past time, the fund has proven its demand, earned the trust of tens of thousands of talented, caring people sincerely striving to contribute to the development of domestic culture. Behind each of the numerous projects supported by the fund are bright creative ideas and concepts united by themes of patriotism, the importance of preserving our unique historical heritage, traditional spiritual and moral values, and family values.”I especially note the sincere attention that the fund’s team pays to the implementation of significant initiatives proposed by veterans of the special military operation and their family members. And, of course, your great, meaningful work aimed at integrating the historical regions of Donbass and Novorossiya into a single cultural space of the country deserves deep respect.
On May 17, 2021, the head of state made a historic decision – to create the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. This step changed the cultural landscape of the country and the destinies of tens of thousands of creative people, giving them the opportunity to realize their ideas and dreams. In June 2021, the first PFCI competition was launched. Over 5 years, the results of 16 competitions have been summed up – 11,752 projects from all regions of Russia became winners, with a total support volume of 49.62 billion rubles.
“Over 5 years of work, the Presidential Cultural Initiatives Fund has supported almost 12,000 creative projects, many of which are events that shape the cultural identity of our country in recent years. Grant support is not just a separate area of support for our culture; it is a new perspective, a new formation of a value agenda that corresponds to our traditional spiritual and moral values along with territorial and technological sovereignty, forming our cultural sovereignty. It is important that all our 89 regions are involved in this work,” said Tatyana Golikova.
She emphasized that through its projects the fund writes a modern history of Russia. The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the fund’s team on its 5th anniversary and thanked its employees for their great work supporting talented people, young gifted individuals, and those who are just beginning to make their mark in the arts.
“Behind every initiative stand stories of success and the joy of victories of people engaged in their beloved work – from the largest theaters in the country to small local history museums. Traveling through the regions of Russia, you increasingly encounter the foundation’s logo and realize that behind it is the sincere enthusiasm of people whose desire to share their creativity has received the support of a professional community, a cohesive team of experts and foundation employees, who also care deeply about every victory,” noted Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova.
About the symbolism of the choice of the site for the exhibition and the significance of the coordinated work of the PFCI team, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Directorate of the Russian Federation for Public Projects, Alexander Zhuravsky, said: “It is precisely here – in the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, in which so many historical figures shared their secret knowledge – that an exhibition dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives is opening. The creation and start of the PFCI’s work happened very quickly – on April 21, 2021, there was the President’s message, on May 17 – the decree was signed, and already in June the first competition started.”Such rates are unprecedented in global practice. Currently, PFKI conducts on average about 3 grant competitions per year, sometimes up to 6. And in this, of course, a great merit belongs to the cohesive team of the fund.

The very first application campaign proved that people in culture were waiting for such a support measure. The establishment of the fund came during a period of societal upheaval from the pandemic and the start of a special military operation, a new and important phase of our country’s development when culture once again became a pillar, a unifying force, and a source of meaning. Over 5 years, the fund has supported about 12 thousand.”projects with a total amount of more than 49.6 billion rubles, unprecedented measures to support cultural projects. Each of them is about patriotism, about family, about the unity of the peoples of Russia, about our traditional values. Today we see how culture helps historical regions return to a single cultural space of the country. And this exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary History is about how the culture of the new era is born, and how it itself becomes contemporary history,” emphasized Roman Karmanov, General Director of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
Irina Velikanova, General Director of the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia: “The fact that the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives chose the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia as its platform is by no means accidental. Because today it is literally impossible to imagine the cultural palette of our country without the PFCI. Many projects simply would not have taken place without the support of the Fund. As expected, the exhibition is located in the final hall, dedicated to the newest history of Russia. The Hall of Culture, Science, Preservation of Historical Memory – it is precisely in these directions that the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives operates.”And what is even more important here is the mirror hall. That is, every visitor can see their own reflection among the projects and thus it becomes a motivation, an incentive to actively participate in the life of the country and in the implementation of cultural projects supported by PFKI. The fund has actually supported about 12 thousand projects, but in fact, the number of people involved in it is much larger. After all, its distinctive feature is that it unites different teams, different people.
Modern history of Russia is presented at the exhibition through the prism of projects implemented with the support of the Presidential Cultural Initiatives Fund. A special place in the exposition is occupied by the section dedicated to the support of historical regions. This part of the exhibition reflects the process of integrating regions into a unified cultural space of Russia.
The exhibition also presents information about the work of the charitable program for cultural and sports institutions of historical regions, implemented since 2023, and the support program for musical audiovisual content for children and youth “Muzkontent PFKI.” As part of the latter, since 2025, more than 1500 value-oriented songs and music videos have been created, which together have amassed over 500 million views and listens.
Visitors will be able to familiarize themselves with an interactive map of the country, which tells about the work of 37 project offices of PFCI in 34 regions of Russia and two representative offices of the fund — in Khabarovsk and Krasnoyarsk.
The exhibition combines items symbolizing the key achievements of the foundation with multimedia technologies. Visitors can expect interactive installations, quizzes, and informational materials that allow everyone not only to learn about the results of the foundation’s activities but also to understand how interaction with the authors of creative initiatives takes place and get involved in creating their own projects.
The exhibition “Culture of the New” is open to visitors from June 16 to December 2026.
