Ulaanbaatar, June 15 /Xinhua/ — Mongolia and China must continue to strengthen mutual trust and support in order to nurture the proper direction of bilateral relations. This was stated here on Monday by a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wang Yi during a meeting with Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene.
N.-O. Uchralt noted that maintaining good-neighborly relations with China and strengthening bilateral cooperation remain the main priorities of Mongolia’s foreign policy. According to him, Mongolia and China unwaveringly respect each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and chosen paths of development.
The Prime Minister confirmed Mongolia’s firm commitment to the One China principle, stating that issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Sichuan, and Hong Kong are internal affairs of China.
He noted that Mongolia is ready to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the heads of the two states, support contacts at a high level, deepen political mutual trust, expand ties, promote agreements on cooperation and major projects, as well as facilitate the further development of a comprehensive strategic partnership between Mongolia and China.
N.-O. Uchral expressed hope that the two countries would take additional measures to facilitate trade, diversify trade structures, strengthen ties through infrastructural projects such as ports and railways, and expand cooperation in the mining sector.
Van I, in turn, stated that China highly values Mongolia’s adherence to giving priority to its relations with China in its foreign policy and its support for China’s positions on issues concerning its core interests.
The minister noted that the development and revival of the country are common goals for both China and Mongolia, and the strengthening of cooperation reflects the shared hopes of the two peoples. Considering the strong complementarity of the two countries’ economies and their common interests, according to him, there is a significant potential for expanding cooperation.
The head of the Ministry of Industry and Development emphasized that China is ready to jointly with Mongolia strengthen the coordination of development strategies and promote high-quality cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative,” as well as to help Mongolia utilize mechanisms such as bilateral cooperation, China-Mongolia-Russia interaction, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the search for a path of modernization corresponding to its national conditions.
