Beijing, June 14 /Xinhua/ — At the invitation of the Chairman of the NPC Xi Jinping, Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing will visit China on a state visit from June 15 to 19.

Min Aung Hlaing was born on July 3, 1956, in the town of Tavoy (now Dawei). In 1977, he graduated from the Myanmar Defense Services Academy with a bachelor’s degree in law.

In 2010, he became the head of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Myanmar, and in 2011 — the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

In February 2021, Min Aung Hlaing took the post of chairman of the State Administrative Council and commander-in-chief of the armed forces. In August of the same year, he additionally assumed the position of prime minister. In August 2025, he became the acting president, thereby assuming the post of commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

Assumed the office of President of Myanmar on April 10, 2026.
