London, June 14 /Sin Hua/ — British armed forces on Sunday detained in the English Channel an oil tanker of the Russian “shadow fleet”, subject to sanctions. This was announced by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The Ministry of Defense reported that such an operation was conducted for the first time under the leadership of the United Kingdom.
On Sunday, the department stated that servicemen boarded the tanker Smyrtos during a six-hour operation conducted with the support of patrol aircraft, helicopters, and warships.
It is noted that the tanker will be moved to a parking area on the southern coast of England and will remain under observation during the investigation.
