Ulaanbaatar, June 14 /Sina/ — A member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPC, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wang Yi on Saturday held talks here with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Batmunkh Battsengel.
Van I noted that China and Mongolia are friendly neighbors. According to him, China attaches great importance to ties with Mongolia in its diplomacy regarding neighboring countries and actively promotes good-neighborliness and friendly cooperation between the two states.
China is ready to remain a reliable and faithful partner of Mongolia and to provide sustainable support for its development and revival, the minister emphasized.
Pointing out the strong complementarity between the two economies, Van I stated that strengthening the coordination of development strategies will help expand cooperation and create new growth opportunities. China is ready to cooperate with Mongolia to promote high-quality cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road”, expand trade and economic ties, and achieve a greater number of concrete results, he said.
Van I noted that the CNS supports Mongolia’s aspiration to make a positive contribution to peace and development in the region. China consistently defends and practices multilateralism and supports the UN in fulfilling its central and leading role in international affairs.
In turn, B. Battsėtsėg said that the development of relations with neighboring countries, especially with China, has always been a priority of Mongolia’s foreign policy.
Ulan Bator firmly adheres to the principle of one China and supports the efforts of the PRC to protect territorial sovereignty and achieve national reunification, it noted.
According to B. Battsétsé, in conditions of growing global uncertainty, closer cooperation is necessary. Mongolia is interested in strengthening the alignment of development strategies with China, expanding trade and investment, improving interconnectedness and deepening cooperation in such areas as the extraction of key minerals and environmental management, she added.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties signed documents on cooperation between non-political agencies.
